What is Vaginal Rejuvenation?

"Vaginal Rejuvenation" is a broad topic that addresses many different things related to women's health, from urinary stress incontinence to sexual desire to the aesthetic appearance of the vulva to intimacy fulfillment and orgasm.  These topics can be sensitive for some and while we want to give the basics for you to read, we will refrain from posting before and after pics. If you would like comparison photos we can provide some for you at your free consultation visit. We have provided some real quotes from our patients who have received the treatments.

No one device or procedure will "fix" everyone who may be experiencing problems. We take into account your age, hormonal status, birth and other reproductive history, and other factors and experiences to offer the best plan possible. The modalities used in our office include a few different radiofrequency procedures. Which therapy you would benefit from can be determined at your consultation.

Treatments are backed by research studies published in respected medical journals. The most common procedure we utilize has a very high "Worth it!" rating by over 9 out of 10 patients on popular cosmetic procedure websites. It is an easy and painless treatment without the need for any anesthesia.

"Every woman NEEDS this. They just don't know it yet."

The Miracle of Birth

The vagina, or birth canal, goes through unbelievable changes during pregnancy and birth of a child. With the birthing process the vagina and surrounding muscles, fascia, and other tissues go through an amazing expansion to allow the passage of a newborn child. It is an absolutely beautiful process allowing another living being into this world. Most of those tissues return to near normal function after healing, but not always perfect function. Sometimes the rubber band-like tissues don't always spring back to their original shape and size.

These changes can lead to stress urinary incontinence where women may leak urine with a cough, sneeze, or a jog. For many women radiofrequency or other procedures can tighten the pelvic floor leading to improvements in urinary function.

Tightening this pelvic region can also lead to increased sensation for both the woman and man during penetrative sex.

Libido, Intimacy, Orgasm

"I had pretty much zero orgasms during sex. A few days ago I had four orgasms in one night. That was after only my first treatment!"

Much of sexual satisfaction involves proper psychology. If a woman's mindset is not optimal, it may be very difficult to have an adequate sex drive or regularly achieve orgasm. Many factors contribute to this mindset including overall happiness, self esteem and confidence, security, love, partner attitude, and open communication, among others.

The procedures we perform generally will not mend your psychology, but they can address some of the physical issues. When needed, tightening of the internal vaginal canal, introitus, and pelvic floor increases sensation and allows you and your partner to feel each other better. Since proper clitoral and G-spot stimulation can be physical keys to orgasm it only makes sense that these procedures should address this key aspect of sensitivity. Radiofrequency heat generation applied topically can increase the blood flow to the genitals and assist in proper nerve function, allowing for easier excitability and pleasure later on. In one study (linked below) over 90% of women cut their time to orgasm in half or better, a huge help for most. Other women became orgasmic after going without orgasms for many years. Very few women in the studies received no benefit, even those in their early 20s who had never given birth. For some the aesthetic benefit in the appearance of the genitals improved confidence and did help with the psychological aspect.

Post menopausal women often have healing of the vaginal tissues with more youthful appearance and function. Their own natural secretions and lubrication are often restored, making sex easier and much more comfortable.

How does RF work?

Radiofrequency energy can be applied to tissue through intact skin or through small microneedles. Both techniques can be safely used on the skin itself. RF microneedling will yield more profound effects for the skin because it is delivers higher energy into deep areas. The skin includes the labia majora, or outer lips, where the hair grows. The labia minora, or inner lips, and internal structures are not treated with needles but with topical application of an RF device.

With either device, the energy heats the underlying tissues and helps to remodel them internally.  At tissue temperatures between 40 to 45°C, RF can induce fibroblasts to produce collagen and elastin through activation of heat shock proteins. These natural molecules help tighten and increase the suppleness, youthfulness and elasticity of the tissues.
